The "Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act" was signed into law in 2011. This legislation, effective January 4, 2014, reduced the allowable lead content of wetted surfaces in drinking water pipes, pipe fittings and plumbing fixtures.

No-lead legislation: what is it?
The new no-lead legislation, Federal Public Law 111-380, prohibits the sale of plumbing fixtures with a wetted surface area containing more than a weighted average of 0.25% lead. This law virtually eliminates the lead content of pipes, pipe fittings and fixtures intended to convey or dispense water for drinking or cooking.
What does this mean for our customers?
Your current inventory of any non-compliant brass products from BrassCraft Manufacturing will become obsolete on January 4, 2014. A Non-compliant product is not grandfathered for continuous use and our customers will no longer be able to sell inventory. It is to your advantage to plan and prepare your inventory levels now before the product becomes unsalable.
Which products are exempted from the no-lead law?
Products that are used exclusively for nonpotable services such as manufacturing, industrial processing, irrigation, outdoor watering, or any other uses where the water is not anticipated to be for human consumption.
