NOVI, MI - The citizens of Orme, TN have been without a water supply of their own for some time due to drought conditions in the Southeast. They have been forced to ship water in from neighbors in Alabama and have been restricted to a 3-hour period of water usage each day. The story has received national coverage and caught the attention of the Plumbing Manufacturers Institute (PMI), whose members decided to help.
On Saturday, Nov. 17, they recruited a group of plumbers for an all-day blitz installation that will essentially revamp much of the plumbing and fixtures in Orme. Themed as the "Race To Save Water, the event took on a NASCAR theme. PMI member companies participating include BrassCraft, Delta Faucet, Gerber Plumbing Fixtures and H2O Guard. Other participating firms contributing to the event were: Bemis, Steamatic, GDSI and Peoples Bank of Kimball.
